My Passion...My Drug!

Most of you know that about a year ago I was introduced to CrossFit by an old friend.  At first I was like, wow, that seems crazy hard.  It's expensive.  I don't know how I will find the time to stay committed.  I'm not in good enough shape for that.  I don't even know what a burpee is nevermind try and do one!  It's too far.  BUT then.....another friend went and convinced me that I HAVE to try it.  In the same breath she said, you won't want to stop....ever!  Well, she was right!  For most of my adult life I have always been into fitness.  From local 5k's to Sprint Triathalons..I even snuck a half-marathon in there along the way.  My gym rat days have come and gone and usually would "go" because of boredom.  Enter CrossFit!  The not knowing of what I'll be doing that day mentality keeps me on my toes....the changing of the workout keeps me interested and challenged....the support I have when there's more weight on your shoulders (literally) than I weigh gives me that 'holy shit I just did that' feeling...the sense of community and knowledge for eating healthy is better than any book!  It has become part of my schedule at least 3 mornings a week.  We have found a way to make it work financially.  Everything can be modified so it DOES NOT MATTER what kind of shape you are in.  And as far as burpees...well, they aren't my favorite but I have learned to do them...a lot of them...even one-armed!   My point is that I found my passion...my drug.  I found something that I pretty much can’t live with out at this stage of my life and it's awesome!  The physical changes are always welcomed, but it’s the mental strength that I am embracing.  It’s the way I feel when I’m not exercising that keeps me on top!  It’s the community of others that are constantly supporting and inspiring me to do better.  It's the proudness in my son's voice when they say "wow mommy, are you gonna pick that up?" It's the fact that after a year, my husband has started CrossFit and has gained a whole new level of appreciation for the warm up alone...and my soreness!  CrossFit isn't for everyone but I promise there is something out there for everyone!  My point is to stop the excuses, and just get out and try something new...boot camp, Zumba, spin, kickboxing, yoga...anything that will give you the support, inspiration and feeling of accomplishment that you may be looking for!  Don’t be scared.  Leave your pride at the door and push yourself into a life of physical health and mental wealth!  You won’t regret it!!!
